The Inator Project - Introduction#

You are measuring wrong#

No, really, you are. Can you tell me right know what the temperature of your laboratory is? Or the flow rate of the cooling water? When you run an experiment do you monitor all the conditions?

The Inator Project - A Lab Management System#

The inator project is here to help. The idea is to make it simple to montior and record conditions in laboratory spaces and of experiments.

Each Inator is a piece of equipment to fulfil a particular monitoring and control role in the lab

They follow core principles:

Inator Principles

  1. Open Source Designs

  2. Self-describing

  3. Data is saved in an open format

  4. The operating conditions of an instrument count as data

  5. They should have standard operating procedures

We aim to produce a series of example Inators to demonstrate the available power.

There will be examples for all major measurements we can think of.

There will be examples using a range of communication methods.

The project repository can be found here
